Registration rules

Choirs can apply on line to the Festival within 1 March 2012: click on "registration form", fill it in and click on “send your registration”. Moreover by the same date the following documents should be sent to the Festival secretary by e-mail/ fax or regular post:

  • Choir’s and conductor’s biography;
  • Choir’s and conductor’s photo;
  • Music programme/s of 15 minutes
  • Recent recording on cd, dvd or cassette.

There is a Festival participation fee per person to be paid which includes the following services:

  • Festival registration
  • Participation in all festival events
  • Hotel accommodation (3 nights/4 days) in halfboard (breakfast and lunch or dinner)
  • Assistance during the whole stay

- Religious house € 180,00 per person in double/triple room
- Hotel (*** stars) € 200,00 per person in double room
- Hotel (**** stars) € 220,00 per person in double room

Above mentioned fees refer both to singers and to accompanying persons. One free participation fee in double room is given every 20 persons.

The organizer has the exclusive right to provide these services and this is part of the participating conditions.

By the application a deposit of 20% of the individual participation fees should be sent by bank wire, the remaining 80% should be paid by
1 June 2012
.



Conditions of participation

Festival participation is open to male, female, mixed, children, youth choirs and vocal groups performing a folk repertoire of any music epoch and style. Whenever possible, instrumental accompaniment and/or dances both original or specifically arranged for the Festival, are welcomed.

The requested repertoire is therefore the following:
  • Folk repertoire for voices only
  • Folk repertoire for voices and instrumental accompaniment and/or traditional dances
  • Folk music for instruments only
Each choir will perform min. 1 to max 4 times (including in case opening/closing concerts) and should submit one or two music programmes for:
  • Evening concert with free programme (performance time max. 15 min)
  • Choral review for the Prize I Castelli Incantati (performance time max. 15 min.) - The participation in the choral review is not compulsory.
The music programme for the review should include:
  • one songs of the choir’s country of origin
  • one European song
  • one song chosen among the 4 listed below:

    - Signore delle cime (Bepe De Marzi)
    - Capriccio bestiale alla mente (Adriano Banchieri)
    - La culebra (Suarez Pacheco)
In case of participation in the opening/closing concert choirs can sing one of the music programmes already performed in the evening concert or in the choral review; they can also choose a different programme which has to be submitted in advance to the artistic direction:
  • All choirs will take part in the evening concerts, choral gathering and parade
  • The artistic commission will assign the Prize I Castelli Incantati and select the choirs performing at the opening and closing concerts
  • The artistic direction of the Festival will select one or more choirs to perform during the closing ceremony
  • All festival concerts will be with free entrance
  • Each singer will receive the Festival catalogue with information about the participating choirs as well as illustrating material on the area and concert venues
  • During the closing ceremony each choir will be awarded a participation diploma and a souvenir from the local authorities
  • All audio, video and recording rights belong solely to the organizer
  • Participating choirs can bring along cds, dvds and cassette to be sold after their performances
  • Travel expenses at charge of the choirs.
